FIELD: pulp industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of paper logs. Plant comprises a plurality of working devices (A, B, C) configured to produce logs from paper material from web (W) of paper material, unwound from one or more corresponding rolls (1), and controlled by control device (2). Control device (2) is configured to bring working devices (A, B, C) into action so that each of them has a given operating speed. Control device (2) is programmed for data processing, contained in data base (5D), connected separately with each roll (1) and characterizing defects (10–21), classified in accordance with predictive classification (I, II, III, IV) based on effects of defects in production of logs, and further characterizing location of defects on web, unwound from reel. Control device (2) receives data on location related to instant diameter of roll by means of corresponding detection means (3, 4). Control device (2) is programmed to change said operating speed depending on current location and class (I, II, III, IV) of each of said defects (10–21).

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase degree of production logging automation.
