FIELD: technology of inorganic products, more particularly chemical and metallurgical industries. SUBSTANCE: method comprises dissolving sulfur in aqueous suspension of calcium alkali or in aqueous solution of sodium alkali and simultaneously oxidizing it to thiosulfate with oxygen- containing gas. Calcium thiosulfate is prepared of temperatures from 85 to 100 C and pressure form 1.0 to 2.0 kg/sq.cm, and sodium thiosulfate is prepared at temperatures form 70 to 120 and pressure from 1.0 to 8.0 kg/sq.cm. Method makes it possible to simplify process and cut down time for preparing thiosulfates. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 4 ex, 2 tbl
