FIELD: inorganic chemistry, more particularly luminophore, optical glass and petrochemical industries. SUBSTANCE: method comprises reacting rare-earth element salts with silica-containing waste resulting from production of aluminium fluoride (silicon gel) in aqueous suspension of mixture of rare-earth element salt and silicon gel in the presence of alkali agent at REE/SiO2 molar ratio of (0.5-1):1 and SiO2/OH molar ratio of (0.8-1):1 at temperatures from 15-50 C for 0.5-1 h. Method makes it possible to prepare rare-earth element hydrosilicates with yield of 99.2-99.7% and to simplify process of preparation thereof. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 2 tbl
