FIELD: radiation-shielding polymeric materials; protection of personnel operating X-ray units. SUBSTANCE: 19-28 mole percent of dimethyl siloxane of molecular mass 15•103-70•103, 0.8-1.25 mass percent of catalyst (tin diethyl dicaprylate IV dissolved in tetraethoxysilane), ), and filler composed of mixture of rare- earth elements, antimony (III) and yttrium with mass proportion of oxides of rare-earth elements and amount of antimony (III) and yttrium being 1:(1.15-1.59) and mass proportion of antimony (III) oxide and yttrium oxide being 1:(0.016-0.088) are mixed up on rolls for 10-30 minutes at room temperature and polymerized under cold curing conditions; filler has in its composition 9.0-16.0 mass percent of oxides of light elements (lactan, cerium, neodymium), 7.0-20.0 mass percent of oxides of medium elements (samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium), 7.0-23.0 mass percent of oxides of heavy elements (dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium), 53.1-57.3 mass percent of antimony oxide, and yttrium oxide - the rest. Polymeric compound is noted for low content of toxic materials, mechanical strength of about 3.0 MPa, effective reduction of X-radiation with boundary energy up to 80 keV characterized by lead equivalent of 0.57 mm of lead at material specimen thickness of 2 mm; it may be found useful for manufacturing protective clothing. EFFECT: improved physical and mechanical characteristics of compound. 2 cl, 1 tbl
