FIELD: production of carbonic filaments. SUBSTANCE: method involves oxidizing cords on heat-conductive surface of heater in air medium at air medium flow rate of 0.1-1.0 m/s and temperature 10-120 C below temperature of maximal exothermal reaction of oxidation of filament-forming polymer, with exothermal heat being utilized for heating of heat-carrier which is continuously circulated in heater. Oxidant and heat-carrier flow rate ratio is 0.01-0.25 at heat-carrier flow rate of 4-10 m/s. Oxidation on heater surface is provided by the action of standard loading of 0.275 •10-5 - 1.100 •10-5 n/tex. Apparatus has oxidation chamber with system of heaters contacting with cord, conveying rollers, oxidant supplying device and pyrolysis product suction device. Heaters are made in the form of boxes with heat-conductive surface. Distributing grid and longitudinal rigidity ribs are disposed inside boxes. Heaters are mounted in supports which may be adjusted in vertical plane. Method allows uniform characteristics of produced oxidized filament to be provided.
