FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed piston has skirt, head and grooves for compression and oil control rings and zones strengthened by alloying piston skirt, first groove and piston head formed by electron beam remelting of base remelting of base metal with introduction of antifriction alloying metal, for instance, copper, into remelting zone. Remelted layer zones have sine-shaped grooves in base serving as peculiar compensators of internal stresses arising in process of remelting and cooling between base material of piston and alloyed layer. EFFECT: improved operation reliability of piston at high thermodynamic loads by excluding binding and galling. 2 cl, 2 dwg
