FIELD: electrical engineering, applicable for supply of gaseous-discharge devices, in particular, gaseous-discharge lamps. SUBSTANCE: method of control consists in regulation of durations of alternating open and closed states of the power controllable key, the above durations of each of the states is preset by the integration time of the sum of three signals: the first signal - from the power key current magnitude transducer, the second signal - from the power source voltage magnitude transducer, and the third constant signal equal with an inverse sign to the value of the sum of the first and second signals, average for the period of change-over of the power key, and bias signal running from the source, presetting the power consumed from the supply source; correcting signals may be added to the above three signals. The device realizing the method has a power key current magnitude transducer, supply source voltage magnitude transducer, bias signal source, driver, power controllable key, matching link connected in series with the power controllable key, which additionally is provided with a summing and integrating unit and a comparator with a change-over hysteresis, connected to the inputs of the summing and integrating unit are the outputs of the power key current magnitude transducer, supply voltage magnitude transducer and the bias signal source, and the output is connected to the input of the comparator with the changeover hysteresis, whose output is connected to the input of the driver controlling the power controllable key.
