FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves setting colonoscope at the level of semilunar fold, introducing biopsy forceps to the level of the next semilunar fold. A mark is made on the forceps near the entrance into the biopsy canal. The forceps is taken out to the level of end part of the colonoscope and the second mark is left on the forceps. Distance is measured between the marks. Haustrum length is measured from this distance. Lengths of all haustra of all colon segments are measured and their number in all colon segments is counted. Mean length and standard deviation are calculated. Mean haustrum length exceeding the normal value more than by two standard deviations, colon length anomaly is to be diagnosed. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in diagnosing dolichocolon cases. 1 tbl
