FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves ligating all incoming branches of the greater subcutaneous vein which diameters are greater than 1 mm. The branches having diameters less than 1 mm are retained depending on blood circulation rate. Two functioning branches which diameters are less than 1 mm are retained in femoropopliteal bypass when distal anastomosis blood circulation rate being less than 100 ml/min and one functioning branch is retained when blood circulation rate is from 100 to 150 ml/min. One functioning branch is left in the superior one-third of the crus and two functioning branches which diameters are less than 1 mm are retained in femoral part. 3-6 months later, they are step-by-step ligated when functioning branches diameters are grown. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment; longer service life of autovenous bypass in situ. 2 cl, 1 tbl
