AIR-CLEANING UNIT FOR GAS TURBINE DRIVE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: gas-cleaning units; cleaning of atmospheric air during preparation of such air for delivery to compressors of gas turbine drive for protection of blade system against abrasive wear and reduction of level of noise formed by operating drive. SUBSTANCE: cyclone sets of proposed unit are located on outer walls of air intake chamber whose interior is divided into communicating sections by means of two longitudinal solid partitions; center chamber is used for arrangement of noise silencer; planes of silencer plates are perpendicular to solid partitions which are parallel in their turn to walls of air intake chamber and are connected with coupling flange of this chambers; cyclone sets are mounted on walls of air intake chamber. Arrangement of noise silencer inside air intake chamber excludes use of noise silencer as separate assembly unit, thus reducing usage of metal and overall dimensions of air-cleaning unit. Continuous center passage and extreme sections formed in air intake chamber by means of partitions exclude flow of air and consequently noise radiated by operating gas turbine drive outside (beyond walls of air intake chamber) without passing along all noise-absorbing cassettes mounted in noise silencer and partitions. Air flow comes in contact with partitions both on the inside (on side of cassettes) and on the outside (on side of cyclone sets), thus increasing area of contact of air flow with sound-absorbing members of noise silencer.
