FIELD: gas transportation. SUBSTANCE: formation, growth, and/or agglomeration of gas hydrates in stream containing water and gas are inhibited or retarded by adding special agent. The latter consists of at least one water-soluble homopolymer or copolymer, derivative of at least one nitrogen-containing monomer selected from: cationic monomers containing, in particular, at least one quaternary ammonium function; amphoteric monomers containing, in particular, at least one quaternary ammonium function and at least one carboxylate or sulfonate function; and different neutral monomers; said water-soluble homopolymer or copolymer possibly being neutral, cationic, or in the form of polyampholyte. Homopolymer, copolymer, or polymer mixture is usually added to stream to be treated in concentrations 0.05 to 5 % of the weight of water contained in medium. Agent consisted of one or several polymer may be applied in the mixture with at least one alcohol (mono- or polyatomic), alcohol-to-water ratio usually ranging between 0.5:100 to 20:100 and that of agent to water between 0.05:100 and 3.0:100. EFFECT: enabled low-temperature gas transportation with small concentrations of agent. 15 cl, 1 tbl, 10 ex
