FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: coiled wire structure has two members, one of members making core made in the form of single wire or group of wires and other member being formed from wires spirally wound on core with gap between coils being Δ and coiling radius of r2. Core is twisted on coiling radius r1 so that ratio of spirals of outer wires t2 and core wires t1 is: K= t2/t1= r2/r1, where t1 and t2 are spiral pitches of core wire and outer wires, respectively; r1 and r2 are coiling radii of core wire and outer wires, respectively. The value of K may be equal to or multiple of the number of wires of outer member. Core section is made in the form of joined flat arcs running around outer wires and having radius of curvature and length of part of one arc running around one outer wire calculated from ratio of: sin (180.1c)/2 π r=t1/2r1-t2/2r1n 1c=1o/n, where n is number of outer wires; 1c is length of part of one arc running around one outer wire; 1o is length of outer wire at pitch of spiral t2. Uniform load distribution between members of coiled wire structure allows strength of structure to be improved and efficiency under operating conditions to be increased. Wire structures of such type may be used for manufacture of metal cords for tire reinforcement, as well as in rope and cable production.
