FIELD: metallurgical production, namely manufacture of metal cord for reinforcing tires, conveyer belts, high-pressure hoses and other technical rubber articles, ropes, cables.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of simultaneously twisting core and outer layer; twisting central core and ready article by double-twisting process with different pitches of twisting during one operation; twisting central core with preliminary pitch to and then twisting it more at the same direction of twisting core and outer layer SS or ZZ; or untwisting it at opposite directions of twisting core and outer layer ZS or SZ while simultaneously twisting double-layer wire article according to next relation: tm/to = (tm +- tk) / tk = tm / tk +- 1, where to - preliminary pitch of twisting core; tk - final pitch of twisting core; tm - pitch of twisting wire article; (-) - for twisted wire article with the same direction of twisting of core and outer layer SS or ZZ at left-hand twisting of core S and outer layer S or at right-hand twisting of core Z and outer layer Z; (+) - for twisted wire article with opposite direction of twisting core and outer layer ZS or SZ at right-hand twisting of core Z and left-hand twisting of outer layer S or at left-hand twisting of core S and right-hand twisting of outer layer Z.

EFFECT: enhanced quality of wire article.
