FIELD: direction finding. SUBSTANCE: for determining the bearing to a source of bandwidth noise use is made of receiving nondirectional (or semidirectional) antennas as a receiving antenna system of the direction finder, they are positioned in definite points of the antenna plane so that different pair combinations of the antennas make up a set of bases of direction finders with a uniform spacing of orientation in azimuth in the required range of bearing measurement. The dimensions of bases of the direction finders formed by antenna pairs should are filtered out so as to ensure correlation of radiations picked up by the pair of antennas that are mostly close to the direction to the source. The correlation coefficients of radiations for all pairs of antennas with different orientation in azimuth are computed, and referring to the number of the pair of antennas with the maximum correlation coefficient, determined is the "coarse" estimation of bearing estimation, the delay of the maximum of the mutual time correlation function of radiations picked up by a pair of antennas corresponding to the "coarse" bearing, is computed. The antenna system for realization of this method represents a pair of nondirectional or semi-directional antenna located circumferentially so that pair combinations of these antennas make up a complete set of bases of the direction finders with a uniform spacing of orientation in azimuth equal to π/32 within a range of angles from 0 to π. The ratio of the minimum dimension of the base to the maximum one makes up approximately 0.71. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
