FIELD: shipbuilding; devices for forming thrust of water-jet propulsors. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes filling in turn at least two working chambers with water due to velocity head of outside flow. Filling is changed by delivery of gas under excessive pressure to chambers filled with water. Pulses of hydro-jet thrust are formed alternate emptying of working chambers. When gas is fed to working chambers, hydraulic impact is formed in water filling these chambers. Excessive pressure of gas is maintained in the course of its delivery directly proportional to product of fourth power of required jet velocity of water-jet propulsor nozzle by second power of ratio of duration of gas delivery to length of flow section of engine by water. This ratio is directly proportional to ratio of square root of excessive pressure of delivered gas to second power of required nozzle jet velocity. EFFECT: increased impulse thrust of water-jet propulsor. 2 cl, 1 dwg
