FIELD: electrical engineering; gaseous-discharge flashing light sources. SUBSTANCE: electrode unit has electrode, protective washer, and annular packing member mounted in tandem inside cylindrical bulb leg; it also has annular sealing member and clamping nut. Annular packing member is inserted between inner cylindrical surface of bulb leg and external side surface of electrode. Sealing member is made in the form of set of washers and packing member, in the form of set of rings. Packing-member rings are placed in bulb leg between washers of sealing member. Damping washer installed on butt end of bulb leg is tightly fitted to this end by means of flexible gasket. Power capacity of proposed light source is up to 3 GW, its specific input energy is 17 J/cu. cm, brightness temperature is 20 000 K, multiple-use bulb life is about 1000 operations.
