FIELD: optico-mechanical, electronic and abrasive industry; machining of product made from glass, ceramics, sapphire, quartz, semiconductor and other materials. SUBSTANCE: grinding wheel contains a face plate provided with abrasive pellets forming discrete working surface and auxiliary abrasive pallets secured to the face plate surface. The composition density of the auxiliary abrasive pallets is 0.2-0.8 of that of the basic fraction of the auxiliary abrasive pallets, and the grain of the basic fraction of the auxiliary abrasive pallets is 0.01-0.05 of that of the basic abrasive pallets. In addition, the number of the pallets to that of the auxiliary ones ranges from 1:6 to 4:1. The composition for producing an abrasive tool contains binder, abrasive, filler, and polyhydridesiloxane. The filler is a mixture of cerium dioxide with aminoplasts (thermoreactive pressing composition) based on urea-, carbamide-, melamino-, and/or carbamidomelaminoformaldehyde resin and/or with phenoplasts (thermoreactive pressing compositions) based on formaldehyde resin. The ratio of the amount of cerium dioxide to that of aminoplasts and/or phenoplasts in the mixture is 1:(0.1-10). The abrasive is a mixture of diamond powder and auxiliary abrasive (corundum, carbide, silicon, boron carbide, boron nitride, or their mixture). The ratio of the amount of the diamond powder to that of the auxiliary abrasive is in the range of (0.01-10): (50-0.5) wt. High cutting capability is provided due to increased density of the abrasive pallets on the face plate surface with high specific pressure in the cutting area as well as the use of the auxiliary pallets of special compound promoting self-sharpening of the grinding tool.
