FIELD: mechanical engineering; convertible magnetically excited electrical machines. SUBSTANCE: electrical machine that can be mechanically designed to operate as generator or as motor, or as both has rotating magnetic core with two rims, carriers, and suspended claws. Electromagnetic excitation module has fixed magnetic core and field windings. It also has lock for holding suspended claws on carriers, control gear, and cooling system with fan. Lock is, essentially, assembly of several forms of straps. Field winding core is built up of two bushings with air gap between them One bushing is part of fixed magnetic core and other one is that of rotating one. Bushing surfaces forming air gap are cone-shaped. Bushing of fixed magnetic core is provided with disk whose outer surface and surface of rotating magnetic core are arranged so that air gap between bushings is extended in radial direction. Annular surface of fixed magnetic core covered with insulating material serves as field-coil former. EFFECT: reduced space requirement. 22 cl, 11 dwg
