FIELD: shipbuilding; water transport; carrying ice blocks and water craft with cargoes stowed in them. SUBSTANCE: method is based on using ice carrier placed in dock and adjusting level of water in this carrier; carrier is placed on docking blocks opposite pier of specialized berth and pier is coupled with transit compartment of vessel, after which cargoes may be received by hold and may be removed from it. Pier and berth may be provided with chutes whose cross section corresponds to cross section of ice carrier in shape and sizes. Pier may be movable vertically and horizontally. EFFECT: optimization of loading/ unloading procedure of solid cargoes due to special construction of fore or aft portion of vessel. 3 cl, 2 dwg
