FIELD: electrical communications; voice signal detectors for multichannel communication systems such as telephone channels. SUBSTANCE: device has communication-channel matching unit 1, band filter 2, first, second, and third line detectors 3, 6, and 13, first, second, third, fourth, and fifths integration sections 4, 7, 10, 11, and 14, first, second, and third threshold elements 5, 9, and 16, first and second ratio calculating units 8, 15, subtracter 12, first and second AND gates 17, 19, register 18, and control timer 20. Device depends for its operation on calculation of series of solving statistics used as distinguishing specifiers to discriminate information-carrying acoustic signal from channel noise and spurious voice signals. Used as solving statistics are signal power estimate in data frequency band; input-signal energy distribution over frequency range, and degree of variation in envelope of input signal passed through band filter. Secondary processing is used for taking final decision on presence of acoustic signal in communication channel based on majority rule for sequential series of primary solutions.
