FIELD: joining building panels especially thin rigid floating or unfastened floors. SUBSTANCE: adjacent edges at junction of two panels are joined together to form first mechanical joint that secures juncture edges in first direction (D1) perpendicular to main surface of panels. Strip built integral with one juncture edge is provided in addition in each joint and projects beyond other juncture edge. Strip has upward projecting locking member and enters locking slot on rear side of other juncture edge to form second mechanical joint that secures panels in second direction (D2) parallel to main surface of panels and at right angle to joint. Both first and second mechanical joints allow for displacement of joined panels in direction of juncture. EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities. 8 cl, 13 dwg
