FIELD: mining; applicable in determination of geological characteristics of placer deposits of alluvial type. SUBSTANCE: method includes driving of exploratory working within placer outlines; interval testing; construction of boundaries of restoration region oriented with consideration of anisotropy of geological characteristics and including, at least, two workings from exploratory lines confining the block; calculation of geological characteristic depending on weight of testing data got into region of restoration with taking into account of data values and distance to point of restoration; determination of extreme values of geological characteristics over all exploratory line after testing of exploratory workings; construction of boundaries of region of restoration effected in block by spline function from line drawn over points wit extreme values to placer outline; determination of distance to point of restoration by expression given in the invention description.
