FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying each pile to adhesive surface of material; applying first pile on unit equipped with intermediate electrode having the intensity of nonhomogeneous electric field in lower zone of 1-8 kV/cm, with the result that pile forms pattern on adhesive surface under the action of nonhomogeneous electric field; placing material with applied first pile on flocking unit, where second pile had been preliminarily placed and intermediate electrode positioned, with second electrode having shape other than first electrode and the intensity being of substantially the same value; repeating mentioned procedures, with number of repeated procedures depending on the number of selected colors; positioning material with pattern of applied piles on flocking unit free of intermediate electrode; providing final flocking procedure at identical electric field intensity to cause fibers to fill remaining sites. Various patterns may be produced with intermediate electrodes of similar shape and different intensities of nonhomogeneous electric field in lower zone by varying intensity in lower zone at each pile applying procedure through altering the voltage supplied or distance between intermediate electrode and material. At second and subsequent pile applying procedures, piles of larger lengths may be applied for producing relief patterns on material. To obtain distinct relief, pile length ratio must be at least 1.5. Field intensity variation range permits usage of piles satisfying standard specifications and does not require special chemical treatment. Various combinations of colors, pile lengths, intermediate electrode shape and field intensity values provide for unlimited possibilities in pattern designs.
