FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves taking blood serum from a patient to determine infrared spectrometry transmittance coefficient in nine subranges in the electromagnetic radiation spectrum: 3500-3200 cm^-1, 3085- 2832 cm^-1, 2120-1800 cm^-1, 1710-1610 cm^-1, 1600-1535 cm^-1, 1542-1425 cm^-1, 1430-1210 cm^-1 1127-1057 cm^-1, 1067-930 cm^-1. When comparing examination data in the mentioned subranges describing blood serum under examination with the reference values of spectrometric parameters of blood serum taken from patients possessing confirmed multiple myeloma diagnosis, Mahalonobis test limit threshold value is calculated corresponding to 20 conditional units. Examination test value being less than the threshold one, multiple myeloma diagnosis is to be set. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy, reliability of diagnosis; accelerated process of achieving result. 4 tbl
