FIELD: fuel assemblies of nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: tube designed for building can as a whole or only external part of fuel slag cladding for nuclear reactor or guide tube for fuel assembly of nuclear reactor is made of zirconium base alloy having following composition: 0.8 to 1.8 mass percent of niobium; 0.2 to 0.6 mass percent of tin; 0.02 to 0.4 mass percent of iron; also 30 to 180 p.p.m. of carbon; 10 to 120 p.p.m. of silicon; 600 to 1800 p.p.m. of oxygen. Manufacturing process includes following operations: bar is made of alloy; upon heating to 1000-12000 C bar is dipped in water for hardening; upon heating to 600-800 C bar is drawn to obtain billet; drawn billet is annealed at 590- 650 C; billet is subjected to cold rolling within at least four passes to produce tube using intermediate heat treatment procedures at 560-620 C; then tube undergoes final heat treatment. EFFECT: improved creepage characteristics and high-temperature corrosion resistance even in lithium environment; enhanced yield. 8 cl, 6 dwg
