FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: roofing bitumen is prepared by mixing oxidized product with softening temperature no lower than 90 C (80-97 %) with nonoxidized component having conditional viscosity at 80 C at least 5 s at weight ratio 1:(0.03- 0.25) (3-20 wt %). As nonoxidized component, straightrun distillation residues, deasphalting process asphalts, lube oil selective purification extracts, cracking residues, vacuum distillates with different boiling limits, or mixtures of above indicated products can be used at any ratios ensuring conditional viscosity at 80 C at least 5 s.
