FIELD: mining industry; applicable in determination of rock properties. SUBSTANCE: method includes testing of first multitude of rock samples corresponding to same lithological structure. At least, some samples have different porosity characteristics. Determined, respectively, for each sample are values of compression strength and porosity. The first series of pairs of electric signals of compression strength and porosity are formed. Electric signals of each pair correspond to values of characteristics of compression strength and porosity for each sample, respectively. These electric signals are processed by computer for determination, by means of extrapolation, of additional similar pairs of electric signals and formation of the second series of electric signals corresponding to functional dependence of compression strength on porosity. The second series of electric signals may correspond to rock compression strength in absence of localizing actions and may be further processed for formation of resulting series of electric signals on the basis of use of correction electric signals corresponding to other conditions and factors affecting the rock compression strength characteristics. EFFECT: provided determination of character of relationship between rock compression strength and porosity with consideration of concrete rock lithological structure. 60 cl, 8 dwg
