FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises identifying magnitudes for, at least, three fuel combustion characteristics selected from the set including ignition delay, maximum pressure difference, maximum temperature difference, intensity of heat release, combustion duration, and time where for maximum pressure develops. It includes comparing identified magnitudes with desirable combustion characteristics for ICE of given configuration for compliance. Said comparison is used to estimate aptitude of tested fuel for ICE of given configuration. Invention covers also method of estimation of said characteristics for updating ICE and method of identification of fuel combustion characteristics.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and reliability of tests.
