FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly improved method of carbonylation of C1-C4 alkyl alcohol and/or reactive derivative thereof. SUBSTANCE: method comprises reacting C1-C4 alkyl alcohol and/or reactive derivative thereof with carbon monoxide in liquid reaction mixture in carbonylation reactor at pressure from 1 to 100 bar. Said liquid mixture comprises (A) alcohol ester or reactive derivative thereof and carboxylic acid in concentration from 0.1 to 50 wt %. (B) water in amount from 0.1 to 7 wt % and (C) catalyst composition which comprises predominantly (i) rhodium catalyst, (ii) alkyl halide and (iii) promoter selected from at least rhutenium and asmium. Method makes it possible to increase carbonylation rate. EFFECT: more efficient carbonylation method. 9 cl, 33 ex, 6 dwg
