FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of acetic acid. Method is performed by interaction of carbon monoxide with a mixture of dimethyl ether with methanol and/or methyl acetate as a carbonylable reagent. Amount of dimethyl ether is from 30 to 100 weight %. Carbonylable reagent is added in reactor where liquid reaction mixture containing a catalyst based on metal of VIII group, methyl iodide promoter, optional copromoter and water is kept at the enhanced temperature.
