FIELD: analyzing oil refining products. SUBSTANCE: method used for analyzing hydrocarbon group composition and determining potential content of refined and dewaxed oils in heavy distillate fractions and also for calculating potential content of dewaxed oil in refined oil involves sequential desorption separation of separate hydrocarbon groups from dewaxed residue of distillate or refined oil by means of solvents: petroleum ester whose boiling point ranges between 40 and 70 C, mixture of petroleum ester and toluene in proportion of 95.5-75 : 25 volume percent, toluene, alcohol-toluene mixture in proportion of 50 : 50 volume percent; separation is effected on grade ASKG silica gel in constant-temperature column, 1150 mm high and 8 mm in diameter, at 25±0,5°C, sorbent-to-sample- batch proportion being 20 : 1; then potential content of refined and dewaxed oils in distillate as well as potential content of dewaxed oil in refined oil are calculated.
