FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing copolymeric sulfur by copolymerization of sulfur with dicyclopentadiene. Copolymerization is carried out in the presence of halogen or derivatives thereof in amount of 0.1-0.5% of weight of sulfur at sulfur to dicyclopentadiene weight ratio of (6-8):1, sulfur and halogen or derivatives thereof are first added and dicyclopentadiene is then added. First process stage is carried out at 130-145 C for 10-45 minutes in emulsifier at 700 to 1500 rpm, and second process stage is carried out at 130-145 C for 30-90 minutes during stirring in mixer at 10 to 100 rpm, the resulting product is then cooled to 10 C, crushed and cryogenically ground.
