FIELD: electronic engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves optimizing the signal/interference, signal/noise ratios in distal zone relative to an object of follow-up, stabilizing photodetector signal magnitude, transforming the stabilized signal into a signal, first harmonic of which envelope is proportional to the magnitude of angular deviation Δ from optoelectronic follow-up system line of sight corresponding to code of the Δ value in the photodetector signal, filtering out envelope of the transformed signal and then its first harmonic operating in the required frequency band and arriving to the executive unit of the optoelectronic follow-up system. The photodetector signal is transformed into additional control signal operating in the zone proximal with respect to the object of follow-up to stabilize the signal magnitude, the separation of the first harmonic of the signal corresponding to changed code of the Δ value, measurement of mean value Ucp of the photodetector signal, comparison of Ucp value to threshold value Uo determined at the beginning of approach and delivering the produced control signal to the executive unit of the optoelectronic follow-up system under condition of Ucp> Uo.
