FIELD: recovery and disposal of industrial wastes contaminated with radionuclides. SUBSTANCE: method involves volumetric immobilization of radioactive contaminants by in-situ treatment of filter- material synthetic fibers with solvent vapors. Then filter material is removed from filter casing, treated with saturated solvent vapors, and vitrified to form glass-like mass of solution with inclusions of contaminant particles. Upon drying solution mass of filter fibers is compressed to obtain compact mass and disposed in sealed containers. EFFECT: enhanced safety of work and storage of radioactive wastes; reduced volume of disposed wastes. 2 cl
