FIELD: disposal of radioactive wastes in nuclear engineering. SUBSTANCE: calcined radioactive wastes are mixed up with curing dope, fuel, and oxidizer; mixture obtained is subjected to heat treatment under self- dispersing high-temperature fusion directly within can meant for disposal wherein fusion products are compressed. Heat produced, for example, from burning pyrotechnic compound is supplied to can. Compression is effected at 5-20 MPa. Products having relative density of 0.8-0.97, strength of 1800 kgf/sq. cm, and rate of leaching of rare-earth elements lower than 10-7 g/sq. cm a day are fused within can. Calcined radioactive wastes are easily immobilized in steady solid medium. EFFECT: improved environmental friendliness, facilitated procedure. 6 cl
