FIELD: remote monitoring and protection of main pipe lines against leakage of product transferred through them; manufacture of automated control systems for oil, petroleum product, gas and other media pipe lines. SUBSTANCE: method consists in continuous visual inspection of surface of pipe line route performed with the aid of stationary thermal imaging equipment mounted along route of pipe line on supports of aerial power line of cathodic protection of pipe line and transmission of signal of measurement via radio channel to central unit installed in nearest transfer station upward in motion where thermal field images are displayed on screen of picture monitor in real time by the operator's request or automatically in case of leakage; digital information on surfaces being inspected is recorded by means of printer. EFFECT: reduced losses of product transferred via pipe line; enhanced ecological safety with no mobile units of thermal imaging equipment. 2 cl, 1 dwg
