FIELD: nuclear power engineering; manufacture of fuel elements and fuel assemblies for nuclear power stations. SUBSTANCE: hanger and device are used for building fuel assembly from fuel elements and also for replacing defective fuel elements of fuel assembly by good ones. Hanger has rake in which dimensions of its seats equal diameter of least section on upper end part of fuel element and rake holes are shifted towards upper end part placed in rake seat and provide for locking upper end part in position with aid of wire over diameter of least section. Grip of turning device is made in the form of collet chuck whose inner space follows shape of upper end part of fuel element and its least section where screw pair is used for clamping and separating collet chuck; screw pair case also functions as lever that imparts turning motion to fuel element and as handle for applying force to fuel element to extract it from fuel assembly, and vice versa. EFFECT: reduced zirconium consumption, enhanced quality of fuel assemblies, reduced labor consumption, enhanced productivity. 2 cl, 3 dwg
