FIELD: electrochemistry, mainly chrome plating of piston rings. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes housing with unions for supplying and draining electrolyte, apertured cylindrical anode mounted in housing and forming pumping, working and expansion cavities. Pumping and working cavities are mutually joined in their lower portions. Working surface of anode is in the form of truncated cone whose base is upper end of anode and it has lengthwise variable-depth grooves arranged along height of anode. Generatrices of groove profiles are parallel relative to anode axis; their quantity is equal to 2N, where N- number of apertures in row. Depth of grooves in cross section of anode lower end is equal to 0.5H tgα, where H -height of anode, α- cone angle. Perforated apertures of anode are placed by rows with pitch consisting 0.08-0.1 of anode height, uniformly along circle and in staggered fashion from one row to another. Apertures have variable diameters from one row to another; relation of diameter of apertures of upper row to diameters of apertures of lower row is 4:1. Apertures are inclined relative to anode axis by angle 40-50 degrees to side of supplying electrolyte. Total area of apertures consists 0.5-0.7 of area of interelectrode gap in mean cross section of working cavity. EFFECT: increased velocity of chrome deposition, enhanced quality of chrome plated surface, lowered different-thickness of coating. 3 cl, 3 dwg
