FIELD: plating processes and equipment, namely applying of wear resistant chrome coatings. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preliminarily deposition of chrome and final chrome plating at mechanically acting upon cathode film due to contact of treated surface with honing bars performing reciprocation motion at rotation of article and forced pumping of electrolyte through interelectrode gap; before preliminary deposition placing honing bars with guaranteed gap equal to 0.3-0.5 mm; after applying coating with thickness 8-200 micrometers interrupting supply of technological electric current by 6-15 min without de- energizing during the whole process of motion of articles and honing bars; realizing final chrome-plating at initial smooth increase of electric current density with rate 4-6A/s until time moment of sharp change of cathode potential; then increasing electric current up to working value.
