FIELD: analytical methods. SUBSTANCE: dimaleinimide sample in concentrated nitric acid is treated with 10% solution of potassium nitrate in concentrated sulfuric acid at 20-25 C for 30 min and then with 15-20% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, after which optical density of resulting solution is measured at wavelength 400 nm.
