FIELD: method of production of dicyclobutyl which is used as component of propellant for liquid-propellant rocket engines. SUBSTANCE: method is based on metathesis of methylene cyclobutyl in presence of metathesis catalyst in inert gas atmosphere at continuous discharge of ethylene followed by hydrogenation of dicyclobutyl thus formed in presence if hydrogenation catalyst. According to method, methylene cyclobutyl is subjected to metathesis at temperature of 40 to 100 C combining synthesis process with rectification process; level of liquid in reaction zone is regulated, thus ensuring presence of catalyst in layer of liquid; then, hydrogenation of dicyclobutyl is performed on nickel-chromium catalyst or catalyst of nickel and kieselguhr at continuous mode and gradual rise of temperature from 20 to 140 C and pressure from 60 to 80 atm. It is good practice to carry out metathesis and hydrogenation reactions at diluting reaction masses by hydrocarbon solvent at initial stage of these reactions. EFFECT: improved efficiency. 3 cl, 1 tbl, 8 ex
