FIELD: decorative working of articles of decorative and applied arts made of optically clear materials. SUBSTANCE: process of artistic and graphical finishing of surface of glass articles includes deposition of 1.5 mkm layer of powder of color glass with fractional composition on face surface of glass article and drying of deposited layer. Graphical elements of pattern are formed by thermal treatment of boundary of separation of glass powder and surface of glass article with action of light spot of laser radiation with wave length 0.69-4.5 mkm and diameter not less than 5.0 mkm along contours and dash lines of deposited pattern through rear surface of glass article. Temperature in light spot is brought to value of melting temperature of particles of color glass. Saturation of color tone of formed graphical elements is regulated by change of duration of action of light spot on particles of glass powder. Then non-melted particles of glass powder are removed from face surface of glass article and thermal treatment of graphical elements of pattern is continued by surface fusion of pattern. Operations of deposition, drying, thermal treatment, removal of powder and fusion of surface are cyclically repeated in correspondence with color palette of deposited pattern.
