FIELD: stopping and sealing devices. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sealing devices for containers, such as bottles. Proposed device has round section body, preferably of cylindrical shape. Body is adapted for getting into container hole. Body is made from moulded foamed polymer with closed cells or mixed polymer, preferably, foamed polystyrene with practically homogeneous density equal to 0,03g/cm. minimum. Sealing device can be partially or fully covered with insulating material and subjected to waxing, painting and/or its sides can be treated to make device resemble cork by its external appearance. Method of making the sealing device comes to forming granules of foamed polystyrene in cylindrical press-moulds with steam heating. Foaming is carried out under conditions providing manufacture of articles with homogeneous density not less than 0,03g/cm. Moulded articles are treated by pressure to improved elasticity, are taken out of moulds and cut to size of seal. EFFECT: improved sealing. 8 cl, 2 dwg
