FIELD: chemical industry and nonferrous metallurgy, more particularly production of aluminium compounds. SUBSTANCE: activated aluminium hydroxide is prepared from dilute aluminium solutions containing from 10 to 14 g/l of Al2O3 at 18-20 C by precipitating aluminium hydroxide using carbonization at 25-30 C and subsequently separating liquid and solid phases by settling at 22-30 C for 22-30 C. Clarified portion is poured out, and remaining solid phase is filtered at 22-25 C. Aluminium hydroxide is washed out with water to content of Na2O to 0.5- 0.8% in moist aluminium hydroxide, product is dried in thin layer having thickness of 0.1 to 5.0 mm at 90-120 C for 3-30 min or at 20-30 C for 18-24 h to give amorphous aluminium hydroxide which has no crystalline structure and has high activity. EFFECT: higher activity of aluminium hydroxide. 3 cl, 1 tbl
