FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described is method of chemical processing of polychlorinated diphenyl by reacting industrial polychlorinated diphenyls of general formula: wherein n+m=3-5 with polyethylene glycols in the presence of potassium and/or sodium hydroxide at elevated temperature. Polyethylene glycols are straight polyethylene glycols of general formula: H(OCH2CH2)aOH, wherein a=3.13, 35, 65. Process is carried out at polychlorodiphenyl to polyglycol to alkali metal hydroxide molar ratio of 1:2-5:2-5. Decontamination of polychlorinated diphenyls gives intermediate products containing two alkoxy substituents per molecule of diphenyl. EFFECT: more efficient chemical utilization method. 5 ex, 2 tbl
