FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method comprises continuously combining two or more streams being fed to form reaction mixture comprising cyanopyridine, water and base, heating said mixture to temperature sufficient to initiate hydrolysis of cyanopyridine. Method also comprises combining first stream containing cyanopyridine with second stream containing water and base, at least one of streams being heated to temperature which is sufficient for combined streams to initiate hydrolysis of cyanopyridine and to allow streams to pass, after being combined, through reaction zone and to carry out hydrolysis reaction under substantially adiabatic conditions.
