FIELD: underwater acoustics, applicable for underwater target identification and tracking in water areas. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in the fact that a shock acoustic wave or a sequence of shock acoustic waves is initiated by means of focused laser radiation in the point of supposed position of the target in the guarded water area. The acoustic waves together with the initiated acoustic waves reflected from the underwater target are received by a hydroacoustic receiver with a pointed directivity pattern. Processing of the received signals provides for identification and tracking of the underwater target. To ensure the secrecy of the identification system, the amplitude of the sequence of acoustic pulses is preset below or at the level of the sea noise or interference of the water area. EFFECT: enhanced secrecy of the identification system. 7 cl, 2 dwg
