FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of pocketless-plate alkali cells. SUBSTANCE: method involves filling porous baked nickel base with required amount of active material by impregnating it with nickel nitrate solution, drying, treatment with alkali solution, rinsing, drying, and heat treatment; the latter is conducted under conditions encouraging loss of plate mass from 1 to 10% which is calculated from expression K = M1-M2/M1-M0•100%, where M0, = 100%; K is loss of plate mass due to heat treatment, M1 and M2 is plate mass before impregnation, after impregnation, and after heat treatment, respectively. EFFECT: reduced labor consumption and material input.
