FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing alkylene guanidine-alkylene amine block copolymer by reacting guanidine derivative and alkylene amine. Guanidine derivative is polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride of formula I: wherein n is 4-50; alkylene amine is polyethylene or polyethylene polyamine of formula II: wherein m is 3-250, and process is carried out in the presence of epichlorohydrine at polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride: polyethylene imine or polyethylene amine ratio of 0.11- 9.0, epichlorohydrine: polyhexamethylene guanidine:polyethyleneimine ratio of 0.005-0.1, and epichlorohydrine: polyhexamethylene guanidine: polyethylene polyamine ratio of 0.1-0.4. Also described are block copolymer of formula III with m and n are as olefined above and block copolymer having high viscosity, bactericidal properties and metal forming complexes.
