FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; extraction and concentration of scandium from multi-component solutions of processing of various technogenious raw materials, mainly waste red sludge of alumina production, waste melts of titanium chlorinators and waste mother liquors of zirconium production. SUBSTANCE: method includes sorption of scandium from solutions by phosphorus-containing sorbents, desorption of scandium by carbonate solutions, acidification of eluate thus obtained, additional extraction and concentration of scandium from acidified eluates. Processing of scandium-concentrated solution is performed through settling of slightly soluble scandium compounds followed by filtering and calcinating the sediments, thus obtaining scandium concentrates. Prior to settling, additional concentration of scandium in solution is performed through contacting the acidified carbonate eluate with semipermeable diaphragm whose pores are impregnated with liquid extractive reagent, mineral acid solution being simultaneously circulated on other side of this diaphragm. Besides that, 0.75-1.5M solution of caprylic acid in n-dodecane is used as liquid extractive reagents; used as mineral acid is 0.5-1.5M solution of hydrochloric acid.
